Verify Raleigh County Supervision

Raleigh County probation and parole describe different forms of supervision after a person leaves confinement or receives a court sentence. A reliable search must start with the legal status, then go to the agency that created the record. Raleigh County post-release supervision may be documented by the state corrections system, a parole decision, a sentencing order, or the county probation office. No single public name search covers every supervised person. Verification therefore depends on matching the person and case, reading the exact status, and asking the proper office what it may lawfully confirm.

Raleigh County Parole Versus Probation

Parole follows a prison or jail term and permits physical release while a sentence remains under supervision. The West Virginia Parole Board makes parole decisions and hears revocation matters. WVDCR Parole Services then supervises parolees and people on mandatory supervision. Probation comes from a court sentence. Raleigh County Adult Probation, which is part of the West Virginia Judiciary, supervises the court-ordered term. A bond release may carry pretrial rules, but bond alone does not make a person a parolee or probationer.

Discharge is different from both. It means the relevant sentence or supervision term has formally ended. A person can be out of a facility yet remain on parole, probation, mandatory supervision, or federal supervised release. The controlling order and supervising agency record establish which status applies.

Verify Raleigh County Post-Release Supervision

No official public statewide client search was located for ordinary West Virginia parole or probation. The WVDCR offender search can help when its record expressly displays parole or another correctional status, but it should not be turned into a general supervision directory. Start with the custody history and court case, then direct the question to the agency responsible for that form of supervision.

  1. Match the full legal name with a date of birth, WVDCR number, or court case number. A common name alone is not enough.
  2. Check the WVDCR offender-search landing page for an expressly labeled correctional or parole status.
  3. For parole, obtain the Board action or ask the Beckley Parole Office what status information may be disclosed.
  4. For probation, read the signed sentencing or probation order and contact Raleigh County Adult Probation with the case number.
  5. Check the issuing court for a discharge, revocation, or warrant order when the status appears to have changed.

A Raleigh magistrate docket may help identify a case, but felony judgments and many circuit documents are obtained through the Circuit Clerk. A custody result marked released or paroled does not prove that all supervision has ended. Conversely, absence from a current jail screen does not establish parole, probation, or discharge.

Note: Ask for the exact status and effective date rather than requesting a broad personal history from an office.

Raleigh County Supervision Office Boundaries

Raleigh County has two local offices with different authority. The WVDCR Beckley Parole Office is part of the Southern District, Region 3 and serves Raleigh along with Fayette, Greenbrier, Nicholas, and Pocahontas Counties. It handles state parole and mandatory-supervision matters. Raleigh County Probation belongs to the state court system and handles probation imposed by a Raleigh court. Sending every question to the county probation office would route parole cases to the wrong custodian.

Raleigh County Parole Hearing Records

The West Virginia Parole Board conducts hearings each month for people eligible in that month. Regional-jail hearings are generally held by video teleconference. Beckley Correctional Center hearings are also generally by video, with the annual onsite exception described by the Board. A calendar entry means a hearing was scheduled. It does not prove a grant, denial, or release.

The Board posts a facility-based monthly calendar, but the copy reviewed during Raleigh research lagged behind the review date. Recheck the displayed month and call the Board when the date matters. No official searchable public database of individual parole results was found. An individual outcome should come from the Board file or WVDCR record, using the name, WVDCR number, facility, and hearing month.

Outcome wording matters. A grant may be contingent on a plan or another task. The Board may also deny, defer, continue, or issue a revocation-related decision. Preserve the terms used in the decision instead of reducing each action to approved or rejected.

Eligibility also needs precise wording. Under West Virginia Code section 62-12-13, the general rule begins with the minimum of an indeterminate term or one fourth of a definite term, but offense, recidivist, firearm, life-sentence, program, and notice provisions can change the result. Section 62-12-13a makes clear that PED creates eligibility for consideration, not a right to release. Use the actual judgment and Board record instead of applying the general formula without the case details.

Note: A missing calendar name cannot prove that Raleigh County parole was denied, granted, delayed, or completed.

Raleigh Parole Grants Before Release

A parole grant at Southern Regional Jail is not an immediate gate release. The Parole Board explains that a person granted parole from a regional jail must first transfer to a WVDCR facility for intake and fingerprinting. Its FAQ advises allowing approximately seven to ten days before actual release. That local processing step explains why a family may possess a grant while the person still appears in custody.

Confirm the later physical exit through WVDCR or VINE. The grant date, hearing date, or PED should never be substituted for the day the person left confinement. If a plan remains contingent, obtain the Board action and ask WVDCR which step is still pending. The broader Raleigh County released-inmate workflow is available on the home search and release-record page.

Raleigh County Supervision Warrants

No official Raleigh County or statewide public parole absconder name list was located. A warrant may exist before a person returns to the original jail, so a current regional-jail search cannot settle the question. Confirm a claimed warrant with the issuing court or law-enforcement custodian. Never label someone an absconder merely because a search returns no match or an appointment was missed.

The WVDCR Reentry Planner uses absconder as a specific operational term. It describes deliberate concealment or failure to report to avoid supervision. Processing may follow when whereabouts remain unknown for at least seventy-two hours during active location efforts, or when credible information shows departure from the supervision area. West Virginia Code section 62-12-19 authorizes parole arrest and requires a commissioner’s warrant for absconding. Filing that warrant can stop the sentence from running until the person returns to WVDCR custody in West Virginia.

Verify before repeating a claim. A supervision violation, warrant, arrest, revocation, and return to custody are separate events with separate records.

Raleigh County Reentry Supervision Resource

The Raleigh County Day Report Center works with Adult Probation and treatment courts, including local Veterans and Family Treatment Court programs. It can be a useful navigation point when a court or supervising officer directs participation. Its role does not establish that any named person is enrolled, supervised, or in compliance.

Program participation should be confirmed through the order and the responsible officer. The Day Report Center is not a substitute for the probation office, Beckley Parole Office, Parole Board, or WVDCR custody record. That distinction protects both accuracy and the limits on what a community program can confirm.

The official Raleigh County Judiciary page shows the separate court and probation contacts. The image below comes from that Raleigh County court source.

The court listing helps route a probation question, while a parole question still belongs to WVDCR or the Parole Board.

Raleigh County Supervision Discharge

Ordinary parole does not end automatically after a fixed stretch without incident. The Parole Board FAQ says successful completion of one year may make a person eligible for discharge consideration. The supervising officer’s progress and status report then supports the Board’s review. Life-sentence parole follows a different minimum described by the Board. The final Board action, not an informal estimate, proves parole discharge.

Probation ends under the governing court order and any later order addressing completion, revocation, or discharge. Request the docket sheet and signed order from the proper clerk. For parole, keep the Board action and WVDCR status. For probation, keep the judgment and completion or discharge entry. A person may be out of confinement yet still have duties until that record is final.

VINE can report a custody change for participating WVDCR facilities, but it is not a parole-discharge or probation-completion service. The West Virginia State Police registry is also a narrow post-release system for people required by law to register, not a general supervision index. Each record should be used only for the status it was created to show.

Note: Released from confinement and discharged from supervision are not interchangeable Raleigh County record statuses.
